Info

After the success of their first album, The DiSCiPLiNES’ return with their incredible new album ‘ViRGiNS OF MENACE’. Fronted by Ken Stringfellow of The Posies, Big Star, REM, Snow Patrol and Lagwagon, The DiSCiPLiNES have established themselves most exciting European bands of the last ten years.

Meeting after coming off respective tours for the Posies’ 2005 album ‘Every Kind of Light’ and Norwegian legends Briskeby, these four veterans of meticulously crafted, deliciously melodic pop all chose to make the white lightning moonshine to their previous bands’ form of elegant fine wine. They set up some recording gear in an Oslo rehearsal space and banged out their debut ‘SMOKiNG KiLLS’, an album that went on to receive numerous accolades, with the single “Oslo” topping the Norwegian charts. However, it was the band’s live performances that blew minds and sealed the band’s sterling reputation. Appearing on festival and club stages in Scandinavia, the UK, France, the USA, Canada, South America and more, the dapper Mr. Stringfellow dresses like Bryan Ferry but writhes, squirms and pretzel-bends himself to a degree that would make Iggy Pop fold his cards. The band was handpicked for support tours with R.E.M. and Snow Patrol, and THE DiSCiPLiNES quickly became a festival headliner in Norway.

And now the band returns with ‘ViRGiNS OF MENACE’. Recorded in the arctic fishing port of Tromsø, the album is a staggering masterpiece of venomous, broiling, face-melting garage rock, infused with the hooky pop melodies that Posies fans will recognise. Featuring a spoken word rant by punk poet Lydia Lunch, ‘ViRGiNS OF MENACE’ is already getting a strong buzz all the way from Peru to Perth. With Stringfellow coming off a banner year supporting the Posies’ critically acclaimed “Blood/Candy”, THE DiSCiPLiNES are looking to bring 2011 to its knees.

“Simply put, if the Posies are a glass of fine wine, the Disciplines are a shot of whiskey. Top-shelf, of course.”  AMERICAN SONGWRITER

“In between Big Star reunions, R.E.M. tours and fronting the Posies, Ken Stringfellow re-emerges this spring as part of the rock quartet the Disciplines” – BILLBOARD

“This is power-chord bar rock, and with beers in hand, the crowd loves it. The wiry frontman is unleashing his inner Iggy Pop, jumping around and off the stage, singing his way to the back of the room, hugging the woman standing next to me.” – PASTE MAGAZINE
