Info

Major Chord is the intelligently crafted solo project of pop/folk artist Dan Flynn. Upon the disbanding of his former band Sleeping Pilot in 2006, Flynn more than seized the opportunity to go solo, taking on the roles of songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, percussionist, and musical jack-of-all-trades from his home studio in Melbourne. Using the Casio keyboard he got when he was ten years old and a vintage organ purchased off eBay, Flynn began recording melodies as real and genuine as the instruments themselves.

Major Chord produced his self-titled debut album independently in 2007 and followed it with his sophomore album ‘The Rabbit Hole’ in 2009. Between a full-time job as a social worker and the arrival of a newborn baby boy, Flynn’s time in the studio was rare and passionate,  with his projects recorded principally between the hours of 8PM and 4AM.

Flynn’s hardworking lifestyle and sincere sense of appreciation are the perfect catalyst for honest, inspiring music. His piercing lyrics offer a type of deep wisdom that can only be earned by firsthand experiences of hard-fought battles and glorious victories. As a result, his music has the powerful ability to captivate audiences through the extraordinary storytelling of ordinary experiences: “Being able to combine the two (music and social work) by writing catchy pop songs with meaningful lyrics is important to me as an artist.”

In his latest single, ‘Tomorrow Night,’ from his much-anticipated third album ‘Psychic Civil War’, Major Chord delves deeper into the human condition to once again provide a warm blanket of sincerity in an often cold and confusing world.

“Flynn’s clever lyrical structures are second to none. People say they don’t write songs like that anymore, but this here is proof that they do.” - DB MAGAZINE

“…Instantly and heart-warmingly appealing. Singer-songwriter/guitarist Dan Flynn weaves an undeniable magic…Major Chord is as delightfully soothing as it is surprising.” – TIME OFF
